Location

 

ELC Manchester Academy of English is near Piccadilly Gardens in the heart of Manchester, and can be easily reached by all modes of public transport.

Manchester is in a geographically central position in the UK, and has excellent connections with other major cities.

London can be easily reached by fast intercity trains. The travel time is just over 2 hours from Manchester Piccadilly station; just a few minutes walk from the Academy.

Air
Manchester International Airport is the largest UK airport outside London.
 
It has 3 terminals. Almost 50 airlines regularly fly to & from Manchester. Over 60 international destinations are served from Manchester. Currently there are 18 million passengers per year, increasing to 30 million by 2005.
Travelling to / from Manchester Airport:
 
A taxi to Manchester takes around 20 minutes, and should cost £15-£20. There is a regular shuttle service, as well as a local bus service. This will cost around £4-£8. There is a frequent train service between the Airport and Manchester city centre. Six trains an hour run throughout the day, Monday to Saturday - and there are four per hour on Sundays. This should cost around £4.

If you require an airport transfer this can be arranged at an additional cost. We offer a convenient airport transfer service where you will be met on arrival by our driver and taken to where you are staying. An arrival and departure service is available. This facility must be booked in advance.

     

 

Rail 


The Academy is within walking distance of Manchester's two city centre railway stations. Fast & frequent trains to many destinations including London and other UK cities serve both of these stations.

Manchester is served by one of the finest motorway systems in the UK, making access to local and national road links very easy.

Metrolink

Metrolink is the UK's first tram system. It is easy to use, covers the city centre and beyond, and will soon be extended to include Manchester Airport.

Bus & Coach


   
 Piccadilly Bus Station offers a regular bus service for local destinations. Chorlton Street Coach Station offers cheap coach transport to & from all major UK cities.
